Rugglestone, Widecombe

11.6 Miles away – TQ13 7TF

The Rugglestone Inn is a unique, unspoilt Dartmoor inn delightfully located in the picturesque village of Widecombe in the Moor. Originally a cottage the grade II listed building was converted to an inn in 1832. It is surrounded by peaceful moorland, adjacent to a pretty stream and just a few minutes walk from the centre of the village. Inside, there is a cosy bar with a wood burner and two further rooms, one of which has an open log fire, creating a wonderful ‘home from home’ atmosphere. Outside is a large sheltered garden with picnic tables accessible via a small bridge over a delightful moorland stream and from where you can enjoy fabulous views. Children and dogs are welcome but we ask that dogs be kept on a lead. Their home cooked menu of locally sourced produce from suppliers such as Dartmoor Farmers Association, Gribbles Meat & Game and Hawkridge Dairy is extensive. It offers a broad range for all tastes. The bar is well stocked with real ales, farm cider and a comprehensive wine list. The real ales are served straight from the barrel and include different guest beers mainly from the southwest.
